Breaking Bread: Bakery Walking Tour

Join artist Lucy Harrison on a 2.5-mile walking tour celebrating Waltham Forest's baking heritage, visiting local bakeries and historic sites while sampling delicious bread and pastries along the way.

Beginning at St James Street station, visit local bakeries and sites of baking history before concluding at the historic Bakers Almshouses on Lea Bridge Road.

You'll have the chance to sample delicious bread and pastries* from local artisans, hear fascinating stories about the borough's baking culture, and speak to local artisan bakers in Walthamstow and Leyton. Copies of the Breaking Bread Bakery Map will be given to the group.

The tour celebrates small businesses and shows how baking traditions have evolved over the years, incorporating different forms of bread from a range of local communities.
