Colour Lab: From Field to Studio part 1 - An Afternoon Nature Colour Experience

Part one of a three-day immersive participatory experience combining colour history with hands-on discovery, hosted by colour researcher and trend forecaster Laura Perryman, founder of Colour of Saying a Walthamstow-based research studio.

Where do the most authentic colours come from? Step into nature's studio with colour consultant Laura Perryman for a unique foraging experience that reveals how the natural world creates the most compelling palettes.

Set in a working Walthamstow-based flower farm (The London Flower Farmer), this intimate session guides participants through the expert eye of a professional colour consultant as she reads the landscape for seasonal colour opportunities.

Slow down and walk the farm fields already in a natural palette, observe the gradient opening blooms and stems as they respond to light, mix and create unique colours from natural inks and understand more intimately how to work hands-on to create a mindful palette.

Laura, author of The Colour Bible and consultant to global brands, shares her creative process for finding authentic colour starting points in nature. Working with September's floral palette, you'll discover how professional colour forecasters translate natural beauty into commercial applications that shape the products and spaces we live with:

• Forage thoughtfully for plants, flowers, and petals with unique hues

• Learn professional colour identification techniques used in commercial trend forecasting

• Discover natural dye potential in everyday plants and seasonal materials

• Experience nature's therapeutic qualities while developing colour sensitivity

• Create simple natural inks and pigments using foraged materials

• Mix and match seasonal colours to develop personal palettes

This experience combines Laura's expertise as a CMF (Color, Material, and Finish) designer and forecaster with the beauty of working farmland right here in our creative community. Based in Walthamstow's Blackhorse Lane area, Colour of Saying represents our commitment to thoughtful research and innovative making.
