Colour Lab Open Studios - Reveals Ancient Pigment Secrets and Future Colour Innovation
Local colour researcher and trend forecaster Laura Perryman will open the doors to her working studio to the public for a special two-day "Colour Lab Open Studios" experience.
Drop in to Laura’s open studio for a self-guided journey through colour’s past and future. Explore her living laboratory, where ancient pigments meet cutting-edge sustainable dyes—grind minerals, see real research in action, and uncover stories behind the colours we take for granted.
The studio features four discovery zones spanning colour's timeline, from prehistoric cave pigments to cutting-edge bio-colours. Visitors can expect to see a modern colour collection, and attendees can explore mortar and pestle setups for hands-on pigment creation and more.
Saturday focuses on historical pigments and inks, while Sunday explores sustainable colour futures, including bacterial pigments, pH-responsive dyes, and circular colour economy principles.
Timed Colour Lab workshop-style sessions on both Saturday and Sunday will cater for various levels of engagement.
